My Good Friday Prayer

This is the day, my love, that you gave to me the greatest gift at the greatest price.

I would never have been able to ask for this, my pride would have kept me from asking. I would have tried to earn my salvation by my flesh but now that I died with You, I see that there was no other way for me. I am at a loss and overwhelmed with inadequacy as I try to tell You how much You mean to me.

You took my place on that cross, took my life glorified it and handed it back to me. Strengthen and empower me so I may walk the path You have chosen for me. So that I may bring glory to Your name. So that the world will know You. Walk with me so that I will be able to show them how You are their way, their truth and most of all their life.

Shine through me Lord, heal through me, lead through me and speak through me.

And today, many years later, I pray that my past was not on Your mind as You hung on that cross but the future that You have won for me.

My future in You.

For every sting of that whip, there are now thousands who sing Your praises and owe You their lives.

Your life has made the difference.!
