Report: Spring Fling in Waverly, NY Print
Written by Fayette Crapo

Last weekend was a good time for us at the “Spring Fling” event. Some Good stuff happened there. We were there for the opening and stayed until Damascus Rd. played. I’ve got to tell ya, it seems every one has kicked it up a few notches in the quality dept. The event started with Ten Days.

Ten played one of there first gigs at The Well (back when we were doing the ) Christian Coffee Shop. They were good back then but they have gotten even better. They remind me of Rush, or Triumph. I don’t mean to say they sound like them, no, no, no. Ten Days is not a copycat band, they are wholly original. They play complex parts very well together and they trick you into thinking they have more than the three of them on the stage. Or rather, they don’t sound like they need anyone else to sound full.

The event was in Waverly, NY out side under the town gazebo in a park. Across the away was an old church. Unfortunately, when Ten Days started there was a funeral going on and I guess they didn’t want the lively Ten Days sound while they had there services, so Ten Days paused to allow them time to have their service. After they played I was joking with Alan of Ten Days that we could summarize there set like this, Ten days played a song, some one died. Alan, I was only kidding. You guys sounded GREAT. (BTW please send me you POD setting, I want a sound like yours J ).

Next up was Sweet Aroma. We have a very special fondness for Marie and Karen. Too bad for us, but we had to start preparing for our set so we could not just sit and enjoy the music.  While we were setting up though I was listening and  I can’t begin to express how good they have gotten. The backing tracks were incredible. Most of the time when I hear people play and sing with backing tracks there is a certain quality contrast between the live sound and the recorded sound that makes it seem an awkward match. But that was not the case here. Super job on the CD girls! You have come so far and I am so very impressed with you efforts.

One of the last times we saw Karen (Sweet Aroma) she was having problems with her left elbow. I was moved with compassion for here and prayed that she would be healed and that I wanted it so much that as an intercessor, I’d be willing to take her hurt for her. Now I know that this is not to be considered a formula for healing. God does not need to make deals with me to make a prayer have effect. In other words, I can’t buy answers to prayer. But still I was really wanting her to be healed and I prayed the prayer only for her. So Saturday, Karen had reminded me of all this and reported to me that she was healed and thanked me. She did acknowledge that doctors played their role too, but faith is faith. The thing is that about 6 weeks ago, my left elbow started to hurt and so when she brought it up I was paying attention. God does hear our prayers and he will hold us accountable. So I am grateful for the pain I have now ‘cause I take this as a faith thing. I was really willing to honor my request, so I will do so gladly. Be blessed Karen!

After we played, we were packing up to Damascus Rd. They have improved so much! They sounded really, really, good. The other thing I noticed was Mark (Damascus Rd) the MC of the event had and extra helping of a servant’s heart Saturday. You and Terry (I think I remember the name right) really did a wonderful job putting this event together. I was very impressed with your servant attitude and your professionalism. I am proud to know we are in the same family!

We ( An Audience of One) were very blessed to be apart of the happening there in Waverly, NY. I hope fruit from that labor is never ending.
