A Sweet Aroma Gathering Print
Written by An Audience Of One
Monday, 18 August 2008

Last Saturday (8/16/2008) we were invited it come to Sweet Aroma’s get together at Karen’s Home. It was a fantastic time. We had great weather, awesome fellowship, a whole lot of fun and, really sweet moments of worship.

We have been showing up at the same places as Sweet Aroma now for a number of years and though our cumulative time together has been relatively brief, God has planted and is growing a strong bond between An Audience of One and Sweet Aroma. (The use of our ministry names is meant not to be impersonal, but to include all of us.) This weekend the bond grew both in tightness and is size has we got to hang out with Karen’s sister Tessie. Not only that we got to play and sing with them as well. It was really fun and funny at the same time. 2 Days before the gathering Marie called us to firm up the details.

After she hung up we thought it would be a nice to surprise Karen on Saturday by asking Karen and her sister to sing with us. So Fay called back with in a few minutes, but Karen answered the phone asking to speak to Marie. We asked Marie what she thought of the Idea and if she knew what songs might be good and what key Karen and Tessie sing them in. Marie did not know, so she asked Karen and it wasn’t long be fore we heard Karen in the background say “What’s going on?” So much for a surprise, but it was for the best and no less exciting.

Karen and Tessie did an excellent job and we were wow’d by how it sounded. They sang “Blessed be Your Name” while we play it based of the Tree 63 version. It seems like they knew a different version (Chris Tomlin?), so we gave them a little queue when to start and they owned the song! We had a slight worry cause we had to play it in a different key but we played it pretty good, so we might have been a little over confident going into the second song, “Everlasting God”.

We started “Everlasting God” but we really do it different from anyone else we’ve heard do it. It May not seem too different, but when it comes to playing and singing together in a band when there was no rehearsal, it is immeasurably different. Karen and Tessie are real troopers. They hung in there and did a good job. However, when the chorus came, it was just like Fay forgot how to play guitar! Karen told us later that she didn’t know what was going on and that she thought it was just the way we played it. Boy was she kind! We all recovered after that and it went pretty good. Believe us when we say, It has never worked out so nicely when some one has joined us on the fly with no prior practices.

Towards the end of the day, we asked Karen and Tessie to come sing “Holy and Anointed One” with us, but they said that they did not know it. Fay countered that it was easy and in the key of G (one of Karen frequent Keys) so then they came up. They picked it up super fast and harmonized with Fay. They sounded so good and brought a sweet spirit of worship with them that we did not want to stop! Just be fore we ended for the night we played “This little Light of Mine” and Karen ran up and jumped in on that one too.

Well to wrap this update up we just want every one to know that this was one of the best times we’ve had in a while and we are grateful for Karen, Marie, and Tessie’s friendship. We can’t wait to be together again.

P.S. Who ever it was that played piano and sung before us, Simply Amazingly beautiful!

P.P.S. To the other that sang there. Good job!

P.P.P.S. Sorry I don’t know all the names (fay).
