Entry for Jan 01, 2009

Jan 01, 2009 (about)
After Paul's Drum track was decided on, the process of Quantizing and production prep began. This work is done on the computer. Quantizing is a method of taking
notes that are hit a little too soon or too late and putting them right where they belong, or at least close. Quantizing is paired up with production prep work. For us this is a matter of looking for quirks in the drum track and fixing them. For example, a false trigger on a drum pad, or a hit that was either too hard or too soft. Another step is to break every drum into it's own track so that you can control the sound of each drum independent of the others. At the completion of this step, we are left with drum tracks that have a super steady beat and are ready for customizing as other instruments and vocals are added to the recording.
