Entry for Jan 19, 2009

After rebuilding our recording computer, we were finally able to resume some recording work. The next step is to start recording guitar tracks. Fay worked for a few hours recording 2.5 guitar tracks. though this seems like a lot of time to record 2 and a half tracks of a 4 minute song, it is normal for him.
To get a fuller sound and to stumble across cool ideas, we record many guitar tracks. So, to keep all the tracks from sounding like a lot of guitar tracks, they need to be played with precision. That means remembering to play every note and chord the same way every time. But to keep from sounding like a boring loop, every like part of the song is played slightly different every time. So while you can play the song 50 times in the 3 or 4 hours that it took to play it just 2.5 times, when you are recording you are learning the song in a depth of detail that you haven’t yet done. Anybody playing Guitar Hero or Rock band might notice the repeating verses or riffs of a song are played slightly different, same thing here.More guitar recording work is needed. Some slight quantizing of all the tracks to make sure they are tight will follow this. we'll update as soon as we do some more work.
Also, Noted that a drum roll was kinda messed up by the quantizing of the previous step. This will have to be fixed later on.
