The Nashville CD Project - May 2010
As most of you know, a few things have been going on down in Nashville. Our time there was brief and pretty isolated to the studio, but we have really grown fond of the people we are working with there. Our Engineer, Greg, has a new baby girl. She was born about a week after we left. Paul, our producer, has been coping with the flood. He and his wife are ok, but they are going to have repairs and cleanup to do on there home. Needless to say, An Audience of One is more concerned about their well being and needs than our CD project. That's not to say it is at a stand still though.
After we returned home, Paul (our producer) started working on mixing some of the songs we recorded and sent us back 3 of them (“Inside” is can be heard on the “Our Media” page). After reviewing them, we decided that we really need to do just a little more work on them and take more time to evaluate what each songs needs to be all it can be.
An example of the sorts of things we see can be found in the song "Inside". You can listen to the original version and the new one on the “Our Media” page. You'll hear that the new version takes on a new life with the added piano part. We had hired Rodger, a Nashville Studio Musician to play on that song. We asked him to put in a supporting piano part to go along with what we recorded, and when we heard it we thought, wow! We were moved by Rodger's talent and ability to bring life into the song. Once he was done with that song thought we had to move on to the next song because of our time limitations. After we heard the mix (about a week later), we realized that we should have asked him to play more like a lead part instead of a fill in part.
So it is things like these we need to really need to take that one last step. We are making arrangements now with our team down there to get Rodger back and record more tracks for us, but it is doubtful that we will have our recording done before our summer schedule kicks off. We are motivated to finish what we’ve started, not only finish but to finish as a no-excuses best effort for our God.
As you think of us, please give us a quick little prayer. But it goes both ways, if we can help you, please tell us. Hoping to meet many of you this summer, be blessed and be a blessing!
